FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s a mediation activity?
Mediations are disruptive activities that enrich and diversify the learning experience of all our students. They offer content that reinforces our nature as a binational, cultural center and as an American Space. Experiences where students can learn more about the culture of the United States, the English Language, technology, and science, but also, where they can develop skills to thrive in today’s academic and professional world.
Are mediations optional activities for my classes?
Not quite. For the time being, each teacher is required to request and make sure to have at least 1 mediation activity per cycle or semester, depending on the program, in at least one of the courses assigned.
How to find about and request a mediation?
This is the suggested process:
1. Start by selecting the mediation level, process, or modality.
2. Choose one of the options provided and review the characteristics.
3. Go over the calendar and select the preferred date and time for the mediation.
4. Fill out and send the request form (2 days in advance, at least). You will receive a confirmation email.
Can I lead a mediation activity for my own class rather than having a mediator?
Yes. Soon you will be able to lead some of the mediations from our catalogue. We will have lesson plans with guidelines for all teachers. Keep in mind you may require careful planning, especially if it’s about a topic you are not very familiar with.
How can I make sure my mediation was booked properly?
Once you have accessed each mediator’s calendar, you book the time and date. And once the reservation is submitted, both the mediator and you will receive a confirmation email as well as an “appointed meeting” in the Office 365 mail (corporate) calendar. The mediator in charge of the mediation will contact you one day before the mediation to confirm the reservation and its features such as topic, level, time, date, modality, etc.
Can I book more than one mediation in just one request?
Not really. In case you have different courses and you work for different programs, you should make a request for each of the mediations you would like to have. And, there isn’t a limit on the number of mediations you can request. Same class different days, same class different mediations, different classes different mediations, etc.)
Can I reschedule a mediation?
Sure. In case you want to put off a mediation, you can click on the link to do so. This link is in the confirmation email you rece
